The Sports Authority to Open Store in Fairbanks, Alaska
The Sports Authority recently executed a lease for a new 50,000 square foot store to be located in the Sadler Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The Sports Authority will occupy the first phase of this 39-acre master-planned project owned by local developer, J&J Development. The property, which fronts Johansen Expressway, is located in the heart of a rapidly growing commercial district where Super Wal-Mart ®, Lowe's ®, Fred Meyer ®, Barnes & Noble ®, Petco ®, Sportsman's Warehouse ® and Old Navy ® have all opened in the last four years.
Irwin Development Group has been acting as the development consultant for the project, providing master planning and financial analysis services, as well as assisting in lease negotiations, marketing, and development coordination.
Construction of The Sports Authority's new store commenced in June, with store opening expected in April, 2009. Other national retailers are currently in negotiations with J&J Development for the next phase of the project, to be constructed in 2009. When completed, the Sadler Center will include up to 300,000 square feet of retail space, along with restaurant pads and office park sites.
